The Telangana government has introduced the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) to spearhead the creation of a net-zero fourth city. Spanning 30,000 acres between the Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar highways, the new city will integrate 56 villages from seven mandals. Additionally, 36 villages that were previously under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will now come under the jurisdiction of the FCDA.

The decision was finalized during a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. To ensure efficient execution of the project, the government has sanctioned 90 positions within the FCDA, covering both regular and outsourced roles. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy emphasized that the initiative aims to foster balanced urban growth with a focus on sustainability and streamlined administration.

Alongside the establishment of the FCDA, the state government has also expanded the HMDA’s jurisdiction in alignment with the new Regional Ring Road (RRR) project. This expansion extends HMDA’s planning authority to 11 districts, 104 mandals, and 1,355 villages. Moreover, an additional 332 revenue villages have been brought under HMDA’s framework, reinforcing Telangana’s commitment to structured urban development and infrastructure enhancement.
